Spotlight on the OSF
A+ Teacher Award
Purpose of the Award
The purpose of the A+ Award is to recognize and honor exceptionally creative and productive work by Omaha Public Schools professional staff members. Education today presents great challenges, with increasing demands upon teachers to help students achieve higher standards of knowledge and skill required in a very demanding world. Many students come with needs that may place them at risk in their development as mature and contributing citizens in our community.
Every day, outstanding teachers meet these challenges, many in extraordinary ways. The more difficult the challenges, the more highly we should regard the professional accomplishments of these educators. Their work is recognized as examples of the professional commitment, wisdom, and skill of Omaha Public Schools teachers in meeting the educational needs of all students. The A+ Award is presented to staff members (general education teachers, special education teachers or therapists, counselors) who have been nominated by parents, for successful efforts in promoting and enhancing inclusive practices for students with disabilities.
