Burke High School Stadium Renovation
The objective of this renovation is to bring the athletic facilities at Burke High School up to current standards and building codes as well as increase the functionality of the stadium for high profile events such as the State Track Meet. The Omaha Public Schools has committed $2,000,000 to replace the playing surfaces within the stadium. We are looking to raise about $2,000,000 from alumni with the rest of the funds coming from local businesses and local foundations that are interested in keeping the State Track Meet in Omaha. We also plan to increase capacity by building a Soccer/Lacrosse/Band Complex and an indoor Baseball/Softball training facility. All of these upgraded facilities will provide greater functionality and versatility for the community athletes who utilize the playing fields at Burke High School. All donations to this project will be placed in an account with the Omaha Schools Foundation and are tax deductible. 100% of the money donated to this project will go toward the project and if we do not raise enough money to complete this renovation, all money will be returned.
LEVELS OF GIVING AND DONOR DESCRIPTIONS
Stadium Renovations and Larry Jacobson Field donations:
Donors can direct their money toward the initial phase of our project which is set to be completed in the summer of 2017. If $500,00 is raised for this initial phase by June 2017, the new football field will be named in honor of Burke football coach, Larry Jacobson. Pledges and donations can be made on the Omaha Public Schools Foundation website and donations can be paid in installments with the first installment being June 1st of 2017. All donors who contribute to this initiative will be recognized at the unveiling in the fall of 2017. Donors who contribute $1,000 or more will have the option of being recognized on one of the columns in the south end zone.
John Johnette Gymnasium Dedication:
Donors can direct their money toward the building of an indoor training facility for the baseball and softball program and a new digital Hall of Fame for the new entrance of the gymnasium. If $500,000 is raised for this project, we plan to install in the gym entrance a bronze plaque dedicating the renovation of the existing gym and the new gymnasium to former Burke basketball coach, John Johnette. Pledges and donations can be made on the Omaha Public Schools Foundation website and donations can be paid in installments with the first installment being June 1st of 2017. All donors who contribute to this initiative will be recognized during the dedication ceremony and donors who contribute $1,000 or more will have the option of being recognized on a plaque or sign that will be built into the new training facility.
Indoor Training Facility for Baseball and Softball:
Donors can direct their money toward the building of a 9600 sq.ft. training facility for softball and baseball teams. This space will allow our teams to practice during inclement weather and can be utilized during the off-season for community teams, clubs, and organizations.
This renovation will include artificial turf for the current field that will be marked for a regulation size soccer field, lacrosse, and also football. The entrance to this new complex will include storage space for soccer, lacrosse and marching band as well as restrooms, concession areas, expanded seating, lighting, and a crow’s nest. This complex has been designed with features to allow the soccer team to play evening games at home, to give lacrosse an enclosed playing surface for safety purposes, and a marked field for the marching band to rehearse in both summer and fall when the stadium is being utilized by football. Having artificial turf that is marked for soccer, lacrosse, and football will provide greater utilization for late fall and early spring as well as flexibility for community teams looking for playing fields.
Founding Families ($5,000 and $1000.00):
The stadium at Burke High School has been a special place to showcase and share the accomplishments of students for almost 50 years. With Omaha Public Schools planning to replace the existing turf and track surfacing, now is the perfect time to refurbish the stadium’s support facilities to meet current demands and prepare it for the next 50 years of use. Alumni giving will be a critical component of the fundraising effort and all families interested in financially supporting this project will receive permanent recognition at the entrance of the new home stadium. For $5000, a family will receive a tile that can include numerous names and years of graduation. For $1000, your family name will be listed among other key families that provided early financial support for this project.
Alumni Column Donation ($100):
All Alumni who contribute at least $100 to the renovation project will have their name included with other donors from their graduating class on a brick column in the north end zone. Within each column there will be a stone plaque that will include engraved names of all alumni who donate to this project. The money raised will go toward the general stadium renovations. Donations can be made on the Omaha Public Schools Foundation website under Alumni Column Donation. All donations for this project will need to be made by June of 2018.
