Spotlight on the OSF

Welcome to the Omaha Public Schools Foundation website presenting our award winning programs and success stories. Founded in 1984 by the Omaha Board of Education, the Omaha Schools Foundation is a nonprofit 501 (C3) organization, governed by a Board of Directors (all residents of the Omaha School District), and incorporated under Nebraska Law as a nonprofit corporation. At the most basic level, the Omaha Schools Foundation exists to raise funds for projects and programs which cannot be funded by tax dollars.

We are excited to share our enthusiasm for the Omaha Public Schools amazing students, administrators, teachers and curriculums and encourage you to participate in supporting the many programs and scholarships which facilitate the success of our students.

Fund Created for Chad Townsend and Family

chadtownsendMany of you have emailed and called the district with questions about Chad Townsend, Supervisor of Physical Education for the district. Chad suffered a brain aneurysm on Wednesday, May 24. This article is being published with permission from Chad’s wife, Mrs. Megan Townsend, who also works for the district in the Special Education Transition Program. A Wells Fargo Fund has been opened on behalf of Chad Townsend.

How You Can Help

“On May 24, Chad suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm. Since that time, Chad's doctors, medical teams and overall care team at Creighton Medical Center and UNMC have been working extremely diligently to provide him with a high-quality level of care.

“We are extremely grateful for all the love and support Chad and his family have received thus far.  However, as we enter into the next phase of recovery, the family could use the community's financial support for medical care as well as provisions for his wife, Megan and his two young children, Elliana and Jack.  With the future unknown, it would be very reassuring to Chad to know that his family's needs are being taken care of financially.  Thank you for your continued prayers and support for this amazing individual.”

2016-2017 Scholarship Awards

northscholar smlOne of the Omaha Schools Foundation's most gratifying experience is honoring The Future Educators and Super 13 Scholars each year. At a reception held before the OSF Board meeting, scholars were given an opportunity to share their plans for furthering their education. It was great fun hearing where they were going to go to school and what they will be studying.
